Join us for Listen, Laugh, Learn (the less popular cousin of "Live, Laugh, Love"): with Jelani Greenidge, author of Undercover Prophets: Pursuing Stand-Up Comedy to Talk about What Matters Most.
Whether onstage as a stand-up or as a writer in fiction or nonfiction, humor comes from the heart and gets filtered through the brain until it comes out as a laugh.
In this session, Jelani will tell you a little bit of his life story, outline key strategies for finding humor in your stories, and delve into some of the key ingredients you'll need to boost your jokes, anecdotes or funny scenes from merely amusing to side-splittingly hilarious.
Meet Jelani.
Jelani Greenidge is a media renaissance man with a passion to inform, inflame and inspire. He's a writer, pastor, hip-hop emcee/producer, DJ, and stand-up comic. His topical sweet spot is in the intersection between nerd culture, hip-hop culture, and evangelical culture. (Stop and say hi! It's not a busy intersection.)
Jelani lives with his college sweetheart, the Rev. Holly Greenidge, in leafy Portland, Oregon alongside a robot vacuum named Geoffrey, Myrtle the stone turtle, and too many throw pillows.
